Structure and Timing of The CGFNS Test 

The CGFNS test consists of multiple choice questions and objective kinds of questions which are 260 in number. 

Minimum time required for CGFNS preparation

You will need to prepare for at least one month. However,It depends entirely on factors such as your confidence, level of professionalism and availability of your English language proficiency test.

Acceptability of CGFNS For Admission Into Schools Abroad

The Commission on Graduates of Foreign Nursing Schools (CGFNS) is a not-for-profit organization that evaluates and verifies if  foreign-trained healthcare professionals, including nurses, are both qualified and eligible to meet U.S. licensure and practice requirements.

So you can’t use the CGFNS exams to gain admission into any school.

Locations of Approved CGFNS test centres in Nigeria

CGFNS can be taken in Nigeria in the following locations:  Portharcourt, Kano , Kaduna, Lagos, Ibadan and Abuja. Other locations may be approved over time.

Rescheduling CGFNS Test  in Nigeria

You can reschedule your CGFNS test only if you are unable to take the test due to COVID 19 restrictions. But you have to contact CGFNS help desk first to give your reasons.

Preparation For CGFNS Test

Here are some tips that can help you with your test preparation:

1. At least, one month of good preparation is suggested for the CGFNS test.
2. Pick a test date that is at least 2 months before your earliest application deadline.
3. Practise! Practise!! Practise!!! There are more than enough free study materials that are available for your practice. Read and practice thoroughly.

Identification (ID) Requirements for the CGFNS Test

When you register for your CGFNS test in Nigeria, you’re required to enter your ID information. The details of your registration must match exactly with those on the ID you are bringing to the test place. If the details don’t match, you will not take the test, and your test fee will not be refunded.  

Acceptable ID For CGFNS Test in Nigeria

Test takers in Nigeria will need an international passport as an identifying document upon their arrival at the test centre. 

Unacceptable ID Documents For CGFNS Test

These documents are not acceptable as primary or supplemental ID under any condition:

1. Draft classification card
2. International student ID
3. Credit/debit card of any sort
4. Notary-prepared letter or document
5. Birth certificate
6. Social Security card
7. Employee ID card
8. Any temporary ID card
9. Diplomatic, consulate or embassy ID card

Note: If your ID document isn’t written in English language and the test centre administrator can’t read it, you will most likely be unable to take the test, and your test fee won’t be refunded. 

CGFNS Test Duration

The CGFNS test spans 4 hours 30 minutes; the check-in process takes 30 minutes. So, you should expect to spend 5 hours and are encouraged to plan your test day appropriately. You should not fix any other serious engagement for the day.

What To Bring To Your CGFNS Test Centre

When your online registration is completed, you’ll get a confirmation email with the test date, start time and test centre address. Please print the email confirmation for your registration. You will take the printed email confirmation and your unexpired international passport to the test centre.

How To Confirm CGFNS Registration Status

You can confirm your registration status by login to your CGFNS connect account with your login details. If you don’t know your login details, simply ask for it from us or the agent that registered you for the exam.

Also, plan to check the status of your registration the day before your test to ensure that none of the registration details has changed (for instance, a different start time or venue than initially scheduled).
